The sound grew louder and louder, it was fast and heavy. Something big and bulky was going somewhere in a hurry, no it was rushing towards her. She bundled herself tighter into an already tight ball. Her limbs were aching from the strain but she dare not make a sound.
Suddenly she realized the sound was gone, there was an eerie calm in the house; no one came looking for her. Just banging of the doors; first the inner then the outer. Her mom should have been here, calling her out. She would cajole her to come out and then would hug her and shower her with kisses.
She finally moved from her hiding place and moved towards her parent’s room but she stopped when she saw the big, red footprints across the room. Leading all the way from her mother to her father and beyond. She screamed as their blood covered the already bloody footprints.
