MY SHERO AND INSPIRATION

A very famous quote says that if you truly wish for something, the whole world conspires to give it to you. Is it true for all our women achievers? I do not think so.

The hurdles and the breaks all add to their resolve and make them stronger to fight and achieve their goals. Not every achiever gets support every time.

My SHERO and INSPIRATION is my mother’s sister and  Hindi Writer Simmi Harshita…… #WomenInspire CampaignYes, we are related but no we are not bum chums or the best of friends. In fact, if I may say so we are not even close or have anything much in common. As a child, I always saw her from a distance as my brother had wrapped her up in his charm and I was too inquisitive and full of questions to actually appreciate what she was doing.

Then why is she my inspiration? I could have easily chosen any of the more famous ladies I know but why did I choose her?  Why am I writing about her or trying to tell the world about her? She changed from just being my relative to a woman who inspires me quite by accident.

My journey as a blogger and my mother’s reference to Simmi Harshita and her writings started it all.
Many interesting questions pop-up when my friends see links to the Facebook page and author profile to the Hindi Writer Ms. Simmi Harshita on my profile and blog and pretty much everywhere I have an online presence.

That she is a Hindi author…..Not my most comfortable language as I even think and abuse in English. Thanks to my mother – a lover of English Literature who has passed that passion to me.

She has nothing to do with my line of work nor does she write the kind of stuff I usually read. Then why do I spend hours and hours on fine-tuning and tweaking her facebook page?

Why take every possible opportunity to tell people about this very prolific writer?
An award-winning Hindi writer, whose passion drives her work. She delves into the innermost spheres of a women’s mind. Her writing lays bare all the joys, sorrows and heartbreak of being an Indian Women.

A journey spanning more than 40 years as a writer and compiling a repertoire of novels, short stories, and book collections.
Her books are about women and for women.

Whether it is Banjaran Hawa or Jaltarang, Yatna Shivar or Prem Sambabdho ki Kahaniya; all talk about the strength and weakness of a woman. How women are the focal point of all our lives.

Simmi Harshita – author

She is my INSPIRATION!!
Do I aspire to be like her?
Do I write like her?
Do I agree with her words?
Do I endorse her words?

She is my inspiration because she has been the champion for voicing the issues and concerns of women in a language they understand and has been doing it for decades.

She is the first feminist I met;
The first woman I met who stood by her word;
The woman I met who challenged a man;
The first woman I met who faced the world on her terms.

She inspired me to follow my heart by following her own and setting a shining example!

I share her works to let the world know you can make a change by changing a little yourself. You can champion a cause by contributing a little part of yourself.
Make your resolve and stick with it.

She is a strong woman who faced the odds and inspired a generation of stronger women in my family and the hundreds of lives she has touched.

You can be the change you want to see.
No matter the age, no matter the time, no matter the day – you can make an impact.

You will not even realize whose life you influence and whose life you improve.
It could be your own.
