Some books feed our fantasies, while some books transport us to the magical land of our childhood. The Night Circus does both. Transporting the reader to their magical past and a future with infinite magical properties.
The cover of The Night Circus is what attracted me the most. As a kid, I loved going to the circus with its wondrous tricks, acts and animals. The book evoked all that forgotten nostalgia and much more. It transported me to being a child again. Although the book is not about kids, it starts as one.
The introduction, when Celia and Marco show their talent, makes them real, human and relatable, even though they are privy to magic, but they are kids at heart, just like all of us.
That the children are special is obvious, but the secrecy and mystique surrounding them add a layer of intrigue that keeps the pages turning.
Few words leave an impact, and quotes from good books are always special.
