The Black Orphan by S. Hussain Zaidi #BookReview @blogchatter Threads of Mayhem

The Black Orphan is a thriller set in Mumbai, but it travels across the nation and beyond. It is a race to figure out a complicated plot of deaths and carnage.

The story is a chase against an invisible enemy who kills but roams free with an iron-clad alibi. Terrorists, innocent lives lost, and a threat to the nation make The Black Orphan a riveting read any day.

I found the book fast-paced and well-researched, with the story covering many facts and actual events that inspired this book. The writing is smooth and flows with the action.

And there is plenty of action. Right from the first chapter, the deaths and threats, coupled with unexplained deaths, grip the reader.

You end up rooting for the hero, Ajay, who is trying his best to keep his country safe. And DIG Ajay Rajvardhan of the National Investigation Agency is the biggest draw of the book. The hero, Ajay, pulls you in as a person and a patriot. His dedication and the nerve-racking obstacles he faced kept me glued to the book.

The Black Orphan is a story of terrorism and mayhem, pitting infidels against Ajay, who chases them with his wits and the help of unexpected sources and patriotic citizens.

The book packs a couple of surprises and unexpected twists to the plot. The stereotype of a handsome agent and a beautiful ladylove only adds to the mystery of the web of deceit and murders.

Asiya Khan, the talented, strong-willed lawyer, is the perfect balance for the tough-as-nails Ajay. The romance blossoms along with the terror and mayhem.

The author ensures that the book is layered within the story as well as the killing of scientists and the terrorist attacks.

The Black Orphan is a spy thriller and reads like one. The action, romance, espionage, agents, spies, secret agencies, militant organisations and the threat of bombs loom over the book only to make it a thrilling page turner.

The author has ensured that the reader is invested in Ajay, and I, too, want to read more about this daring super agent. The author, S. Hussian Zaidi, is a prolific author; check out his books here.

If mysteries and thrillers filled with danger inspired by true crime are to your taste, then you will enjoy The Black Orphan.

The incidents take us through events that hit close to home, ensuring that the reader is equally thrilled and emotional at the play of events.

I received a copy of the book from Blogchatter, and the views in the review are my own.

BLURB – THE BLACK ORPHAN

It’s love at first sight for DIG Ajay Rajvardhan of the National Investigation Agency when he sees attractive young lawyer Asiya Khan in court, defending a young woman the NIA has arrested on charges of terrorism.

They are on opposite sides – he specializes in taking down terrorists while she defends those wrongfully arrested by the authorities – but he finds he is unable to get her out of his head.

Even as Ajay and Asiya are drawn closer, a web of crime, deception and intrigue weaves itself around them and threatens to take them down.

A serial killer is on the loose, murdering India’s most famous nuclear scientists one by one. And something far worse is brewing in the bylanes of Mumbai.

Time is running out for Ajay and his associates, Deputy Commissioner Sagar Pratap and Commissioner Neeraj Kumar, to find the mastermind behind these incidents and stop them.
