The Secret Sisters Club Book Review

The Secret Sisters Club Book Review

The Secret Sisters Club - cover

Two best friends who want to be more than friends.
They want to get together and complete their incomplete families. Can they do it? Will their Operation Secret Sisters be successful? Do they really want to be sisters; are they sure?
These questions are the crux of the book which is meant for 8 to 12 year olds.
I can totally understand the need for the two best friends to want to stay together and make a plan for it to succeed. It is a simple story line about childhood friends and how in their innocent minds they each try to find the perfect family for themselves. Their respective parents are soon aware of their schemes and humor them along.
The best part about the book is how the author has explored the sentiments of Ginnie and her twin Toran. How they yearn to know more about their deceased mother yet want to move forward and out of her shadows.
The author had written about the inner conflict and confusion of these children beautifully. Especially how Ginnie is perplexed and as the book is through her experienced and thoughts, she is most endearing!
It is a light hearted fun story, with clear and concise language. The huge plus point is the expressive father who loves and expresses his love for his children, helping them over little emotional hiccups!
I found the story fast paced and easy to read. Another big plus is the emotional lessons young readers can take from the book.
I am looking forward to reading the next book. Trouble Blows West! Interesting title and knowing a bit about Ginnie; I am sure this tomboy will have me rooting for her!
