This ‘Books of 2024 Reading Wrap-up’ is a happy one, filled with not just 32 physical books but also audiobooks that I finished in the past year.
My best read of 2024, Lessons In Chemistry was an audiobook!! And I am more surprised than anyone else.
I am now listening to a new book, More Days At The Morisaki Bookshop on Audible and have read the first book, Days At The Morisaki Bookshop as a paperback. The story and characters are vibrant and I get the right pronounciations of all the Janapanese names.

It’s been a long journey to get back on track and the various half-written reviews are the testimony that I’ve tried to nurture my reading habit by changing the way I read. Now I read ebooks across my devices, my Kindle and paperbacks and listen to audiobooks as well. Since I always read multiple books so now, I always have an audiobook to listen to for times when I can’t read.

The past year has been good for my reading, which had fallen into the endless pit of doom scrolling during COVID times. I still scroll, but now I limit myself knowing that the books I’m not reading will give me more pleasure and knowledge than the mindless scrolling. Kinda like guilt-tripping myself to put the phone down. Nothing can beat the books!
2024 was no different from the past years, but I chose to view it differently. My focus is now firmly on the words on the page and not on the numbers. I read 32 books out of the 52 I’d planned, just like in previous years. Even though almost 7000 pages are quite a lot but I know I can read much more!
If only all the articles and posts and pages of captions I read could be added to my reading stats! ;D

This year I plan to read 52 books in 2025. I’ve read 3 books till now, a book about Darjeeling, a book about nature and our lives, and a thriller set in Mumbai so January is off to a good start!
The last year was busy, bringing changes and travel, but it also helped me take care of my health so even though I didn’t read the 52 books I had planned, it is still a win in my book.
The Top 5 Books of 2024 were:
A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles
Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Translating Myself and Others by Jhumpa Lahiri
The reading this past year has been a mixed bag of genres as I like it. Here is the longest & shortest book and obviously it had to be a kidlit.

The best part of 2024 was the publishing of my short love story, Love Paused in The Blogchatter Book of Love. It has great reviews and you can check out all the sweet, emotional and patriotic love stories here.

The new year is old now with January almost already over! The good thing is that my reading is going well in this first month and I will ensure that I keep reading interesting books in the coming months.
I plan to follow my TBR and read as many books as possible from the books that I already own but many new award-winning books keep tempting me 😉
I’m reading Games & Rituals by Katherine Heiny
