SOMEONE EXACTLY LIKE YOU by Esha Pandey

This book, Someone Exactly Like You, has been with me for a while. I even met the author Esha Pandey in a cool writer-reviewer meetup and was so impressed. I was reading this book in July and then got sidetracked.

She has quite a few books published under her name and this was her first book. I look forward to reading her latest new release thriller, The Mohanbari Murders next. Here’s my review of the book.

Natasha and Veer are as different as can be yet they come together for a pretty love story in Someone Exactly Like You. This romance is a fast read, the story moves fast and always has a twist coming up. Esha has woven a layered romance with each character facing emotional upheaval.

Natasha is very excited to get an opportunity to work on a coveted Bollywood project but things go awry and she ends up stranded. Veer comes to her rescue and even offers her a job. Sparks fly and both fall for each other and then comes in the estranged wife!

.

What Works in Someone Exactly Like You:

  • Great chemistry between the main lead.
  • Fast-flowing story.
  • Very scenic location. Picturesque and reminded me why we love snow even though I hate cold.
  • A brooding, handsome, kind hero.
  • Did I tell you he is drool-worthy!
  • His sweet grandmother.
  • The surprise twist in the last chapter.
  • The wisdom and maturity showed by Natasha when I least expected it.
  • A well-balanced ending.

.

Some Slips in Someone Exactly Like You:

  • The clichéd and conniving, predictable wife.
  • The best friend who was a bit annoying at times.
  • The fact that the heroine thinks it’s okay for a guy to assault a woman in an extreme situation. Meh!
  • The ‘too sweet’ demeanour of Natasha, sometimes she was too naive but then she is just out of college.
  • Amyra was just a bit too much.

Overall, Someone Exactly Like You is a good read, well-written romance and a perfect weekend read. The characters are well-developed and there is a growth arc in the story that is quite realistic.

The ending was what I liked the most, it not only gave closure to all the characters, it also was true to real-life where ‘level-headed girls’ don’t throw their career away for a guy.

Read, Someone Exactly Like You for a young romance and a good sensible storyline.

She faints and on waking up, realizes she is in the company of the ‘bad boy’ of Bollywood-Veer Singh Tomar.

Natasha falls for Veer, who, incidentally, is married and dealing with a messy divorce. By some cruel twist of fate, Veer’s estranged wife Amyra comes back to his life. But by then, Veer is already drawn to Natasha.

Will Veer ever find his way back to Natasha?
