My Singapore Fling takes Dipa to foreign shores for an affair that she assures herself is the best solution of all her love problems. She flies to Singapore and spends her days in luxury and splurging. A weekend of pampering and decadence as she searches for a fling in #MySingaporeFling. Someone to make her forget the silly men who have not valued her in the past relationships.
Initially, Dipa relaxes and goes about her trip, chatting with her girlfriends and hopes to find a super hot British guy. Does she succeed? Does she find the fling? The book is a short but quick read. It kept me glued with the details about Singapore and all that the city offers. It is a treat for romantics and travel lovers as the book caters for both. The details were bang on and I travelled to Singapore while I was reading the book so it was even more fun for me. I had insider information, you see. 😀
I found that the narration could be a bit tighter in a couple of places, especially when Dipa is over thinking but overall it is a fresh, light read. It a book that can be easily read in one sitting and it will leave you yearning for a visit to Singapore.

I loved how the fling and its ramifications were explored. Dipa being an unapologetic foodie sheds her inhibitions since it was meant to be a fling but that is what makes the fling so good. This is a story with layers and I enjoyed reading about them. The book talks about the emotional baggage an ex-lover or boyfriend leaves behind and how the new relationship is often burdened by the previous one. Of course, Dipa feels all this and more, even getting a bit tipsy fun from down under while trying out the fling. He was not the right fling material but the quirky guy she eventually bumps into sure came close.
A cookbook and a doting guy add up to a very well rounded story. I liked the ending and how the fling finally works out. #MySingaporeFling is a light read which will bring a smile to your face.

Meet Dipa Basu. She’s a 30 something modern Bengali woman living in Kolkata and a successful writer in #MySingaporeFling. After many relationships and breakups, she’s decided that love is a waste of time. She’s always had these phases where she’s been obsessed with different things; like one where old men in dhotis appealed to her. But this time she’s crazy about men with British and Australian accents. She travels to Singapore for a few days, on a quest to have a fun, meaningless fling. Her trip is full of surprises. Will Dipa have her Singapore Fling?
