The alphabet D has few choices and Denmark was calling to me. I choose the city of Denmark for its beauty and the mesmerising country, famous for its Scandinavian history, beautiful beaches, stunning countryside and the Vikings. The yummy sweets, Danish pastry, anyone? It is also famous for its most loved author of exquisite fairy tales – Hans Christian Andersen. He is a Danish author who was famous for his fairy tales.
I am sure you would have read a few at least if not more. Does the story of Thumbelina, The Little Match Girl, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Snow Queen and The Ugly Duckling ring a bell?
He is the author of them all. Are we transported to our childhood? I for one still enjoy the occasional fairy tale. Do you still read them? Do you have any of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales or his other books? I have always enjoyed children’s fiction and love reading picture books.

These photos are from my copy of Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales. I bought it a long time ago. The pages have turned yellow but the stories are still fresh as ever. The images make it more interesting to read. Denmark is delighting us from a distance. I wonder how delish it would be on visiting?
