Roy stood up as he caught hold of Avi’s hand. He tried to pull it away but Roy held on. In a second Roy let go and pushed him away with all his strength. Avi stumbled yet before he could recover Roy shoved him again and again.
All his contempt for Avi came to fore as he remembered his behavior with the boy serving tea at the food stall. They might be poor but they need not forget their humanity, thought Roy.
With a final shove, Roy pushed him out of his stall and shouted, “Get out and stay out!”
Through the month of April, I am writing along with 1900 participants for the A to Z Challenge. My theme for the Alphabet Challenge is FEELINGS and FICTION. The happy, sad, funny, silly, envious, over the top and totally low down account of feelings in 100 words of fiction.

Contempt is such a negative emotion. The tale well depicts that. Well written.
Perfectly illustrated! Everyone deserves respect.
Seriously, one can not justify one’s behaviour towards someone as right if they consider themselves superior. Everyone has a right to respect!

Now I want to go both backwards and forwards from the moment you describe and see just what happened Finding Eliza
I believe there is a place in our world for contempt. Those who are saying there should be more compassion, probably don’t realize that there is a reason behind the contempt.

Contempt or pity for people around you–these are unpleasant feelings, which should certainly never come to the fore. But sadly this is what we see all around!
I agree with Bhavya. Respect needs to come from within… and which is so difficult to see most of the times.
Respect needs to come from within. We should not discriminate based on anyone’s job.
Contempt the word itself. Great, thought provoking post.
Ouch.. that hurted in the end!
Good one Inder

The world sure needs more compassionate people to get the contempt out of here. Beautifully narrated, Indy!
Compassion for one brings out contempt for another. Human emotions are strange.

Contempt for contempt, that’s a good one. No one has the right to be little anyone. Nicely done Indy.
I’m enjoying the vignettes you create to illustrate your feelings. Can’t wait to read more!
Contempt and mindless competition has filled the world with hatred. You brought the bitter truth of the times we live in wonderfully in your words 🙂

It’s so sad when there are people like that. The world need compassion and not contempt. Very well narrated and the message pierced the heart:)
