The personal part of this blog has been languishing for a while, in fact, I don’t think I have done a personal post for a very long time. When Shantala tagged me for #AnythingButBooks  tag, I was happy to take it up. Plus the questions are so interesting.

This has been a year of travel – too much travel and more to come. Blogging has been very erratic but since I love it so much I persevere. This tag is the perfect way to talk about myself. Thank you for the tag, Shantala and here goes.

Name a cartoon(s) that you love.

Chip and Dale – I find them too cute. Of course Tom and Jerry. I remember watching Jamie and The Magic Torch and loving the slide he did with the twist of his torch. Magic, I tell you always makes me dreamy.

My another favourite was watching this Barbapapa cartoon that used to stream in Hindi on Doordarshan. ( Yes, I am positively ancient) Here is a video in case you want to look it up. I could not find a Hindi version, maybe it was in English but I am not sure.

What is your favourite song right now?

Songs are generally all melodious numbers but three songs are on top right now.

Agar Tum Saath from Tamasha has been a favourite for a while even though I have not seen the movie 😀

What could you do for hours (that isn’t reading)?

I can watch movies, I have watched two movies back to back in movie theatres as well. And listening to music as well. All night long.

What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

I love to do embroidery. Nothing too complicated but I haven’t done it in while.

What is your favourite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about (this can do with books, I guess)?

I want to learn how to Tangle. I cannot draw or paint but I still love the designs. Keep trying them on and off most of them turn out quite ghastly. :p

What is something unusual you know how to do?

  • I can fix most broken toys. I am quite adept at fixing things, Fevikwik is my favourite weapon.
  • I can untangle most knots in threads, yarns, wires and ropes. In fact, I do it in other people’s offices and places as well. I think that means I am a loony but then who isn’t. I love my special way.

Name something you’ve made in the last year (and show us, if you can).

Hmm, this is a tough one. I made nothing that I can remember. Seems I should something this year.

What is your most recent personal project?

My most recent project is something that I have wanted to do for many years but now I am working on it. It is a translation project about and I hope to get it done by this year end.

Tell us something you think about often (maybe while staring out of windows).

I think of living in that idyllic beach house with a view of the sea and reading nook that merges both indoors and outdoors. It always means that I will be able to read all the books on my Kindle as well as the paperbacks I have and keep adding. (Wishful thinking! I know.)

Give us something that’s your favourite, but make it something oddly specific, not like your favourite food, but like your favourite food when you’ve been studying for hours and forgot to eat. Or, you know, something like that.

  • My favourite thing is to listen to instrumental music by the masters, Beethoven and Mozart when I am in a deep funk about something. I lost my cassette collection during a move but now I stream it through the apps.
  • I love eating homemade roasted salted peanuts and peas namkeen, one nut at a time whenever I am doing some tough editing. It just keeps me focussed.

Thank you once again Shantala, you took me back to my childhood looking for the cartoons.

I would like Rubina, Nilima, Meenakshi, Ankita, and Ruchira to do this tag, please consider yourself tagged, and tag me when you post your answers. I am eager to read them.

I’m loving the responses to this tag. So you’re a toy fixer? That’s cute and your son is lucky to have you. I want to learn tangling too but I think I’m just not creative enough so I settled for adult colouring books.
Thanks for that song – I shall be happily humming it through the day.

I used to watch chip and dale too. Loved them 🙂 I need you kind of superpower to untangle threads. They can be so irksome, and sometimes I just lose the patience. A house by the sea is like an ultimate dream. I want one too.

Hey Indy, I loved reading your responses. Some cartoons you mentioned here I haven’t heard of. I ‘ll look them up from your links. All the best for your translation project. Seems only thing we have in common is the Tangle thing. Mine is ghastlier than yours.
