I have read Laxmi’s work earlier and love the edgy crispness to her writing. Feral is the story of Maya who is in search for herself and her identity. She is strong, brave, conflicted, feminine yet determined. Bit by bit she tries to uncover her reality and her destination. She senses that she is different and that creates all the conflicts in her life yet is she ready to face the changes this discovery brings. Feral is a short novella and I read it in one sitting. It does exactly what Laxmi intends it to – whets the reader’s appetite for more.
I now need to find out about Luke, Vik Roy and what part does Maya has in their lives. What does she finally become, since this is a paranormal romance I need to know more about the other things as well. The dystopian Bombay, the Europeans who find themselves at its shores. The mystic of the story is that got me hooked. The sweet love story and the adoration of Luke, his love and desire for Maya were so well written into the story – Subtle yet strong.
Laxmi writes with a fast pace and the story jumps off the pages and runs taking the reader on a good ride. I read the book fast and enjoyed the chemistry. The author kept me guessing the role of Vik till the very end. She has also convinced me that there is a lot more to know about this series. So many new questions that I search for as I eagerly pick the next book – Awakened.
Feral (Many Lives Spinoff #1)
He was her destination. She just didn’t know it.
When Maya leaves Luke to go in search of her blood family, nothing prepares her for the secrets she uncovers about herself.
An intense, shifter romance, set in Bombay. A standalone novella in the Many Lives universe.
