A Daughter’s Dream is a complete romance, as well as a book about finding the right path and a wholesome family story. I am a fan of Shelley’s work and enjoy reading the Amish stories she pens. This book is the second of the Charm Series and even though I had not read the other book this one is a fine stand alone book. I finished it in a day with a kid on summer break by my side such were the interesting words.
The story is the connection that Rebecca and Jacob find and how their love blossoms and helps them grow and realize their true direction. The most powerful lesson is that not always is sacrificing in the name of love the right thing to do. Following our desire or calling is equally important and as a family, we must allow each person to grow and learn.
The book has many characters and they add to the strength of the story. The fact that book has the main protagonists who are not so young add to the story. That age is a factor often debated when people fall in love and this book reiterates the fact love at any age is good, pretty much excellent, I say. There is a lot of love in this book with various other characters and I do see a book for many of them, which is great since I just love these stories. Their stories touch each other and grow, never encroaching on each other. A fine balance indeed has been struck in sharing these together.
I found this book covering all aspects of life and I enjoyed reading this one, I think A Daughter’s Dream is by far the best book by Shelley Shepard Gray. A married couple finding their balance and understanding, a young girl handling the troubles life has thrown her way and finally Rebecca and Jacob and their love story. Peter, Lily, Amelia, Katie, Darla, Mercy, Rachel and Marcus – I enjoyed learning about each one of them. This book shared so much yet it was never too much as I eagerly turned the pages.

I think Peter is my favorite with a sweet yet strong demeanour and of course, I want to know what happens with Mercy. Family is the central theme as love binds these sweet, gentle folk. In spite of sounding repetitive – go read this book, it has so much to share. If you love Amish Fiction then you should have read it by now!
