When a Man Loves a Woman: A Love Divine is a sweet, calm, love filled book with Jacquie as the star.

This book is a story of growth, faith and love – lots of it.

It has renewed my faith and filled me with hope leaving a smile on my face as I finished this book.

This story is not just about Jacquie but it is also Jeremiah’s story. I loved that fact that is a book that flows smoothly and guides without being preachy or condescending. She is a confident, self-sufficient, strong and beautiful woman and Jacquie wants for nothing except true love. That she finds it is destiny. I loved the way the author, Tumika brought them together, totally like our Bollywood/ Indian movies in When a Man Loves a Woman: A Love Divine. True love will find a way, indeed.

Michael is a young, free-spirited painter and handsome to boot. He just made me drool with his charm, sweet words and even sweeter manners, a cool guy who is so hot! 😉 He is the perfect guy, the kind you would love to take to meet your Dad. A kind, loving heart, understanding and patient, he woos Jacquie so thoughtfully.

That the heroine is nearly 40 and finds love, is a believer, and stays strong even when things fall apart had me engrossed in her life. She is a good girl but is still searching for something elusive—how she finds it and embraces change makes up most of the story.

This book, When a Man Loves a Woman: A Love Divine has well-etched characters and the family, friends and support that she has, adds to the story. The bonding with her friends, especially Vanessa reminded me of my best friend, she is in the UK but whenever we talk or meet it is like we were never apart. I found their friendship so real and grounded.

She had obstacles and she stumbled in her journey but she stood strong. There might be a lot of things going on with her helping  a neighbour, finding love in the unlikeliest of places and having her hands full yet all of it kept the story flowing. I think that women can take a lesson or two from Jacquie as how to handle those nosy relatives and friends who keep inquiring into their marital status or lack of kids.

Eager to know how she will face the next challenge, I kept turning the pages. Faith and prayers can guide us in every step of our life—we need not be a believer, but just tune into our inner thoughts. Yes, this book falls into the category of #ChrisFic and I find that very reassuring. All of us may not be believers, but we can find inspiration and strength from Jacquie’s story.

Quotes like this with the emphasis on balance and equality made the lady in me happy, too.

Sacrifices takes place on both ends, not just one. At least they should anyway. A man who truly loves a woman will make sacrifices for her and never look back, first he must be given a chance.”

What I would have loved is to have read more of the story from Micheal’s point of view but still the author has done justice to the story. I did find that a couple of times the story was just waiting, as was I that what would happen next, how would it unfold. That was a bit slow but still overall the story moved at a steady pace.

 “Faith is believing even when we can’t see.”

This book has a strong storyline, smooth narration and well-written characters. Forgiveness and family go together. When a Man Loves a Woman: A Love Divine highlights the power of love as Jacquie opens her heart and tries to do what she feels is the right path. It was a bit obvious that how Micheal would react but still how they finally sort out their life was the interesting part. Vanessa sure knew what she was talking about!

The story was interesting since Jacquie’s life was linked with many other characters and they added to the story. At quite a few moments in the book I was worried about Jade with all the trouble she was in but she just managed to hold it all together, I hope I get to read her story soon. She definitely deserves a second chance.

The book, When a Man Loves a Woman: A Love Divine does not advice or tell you what to do but it will find favor with us because many of us will find ourselves within its pages. Jacquie is so likeable, a kind and helpful lady that you will be hoping she finds her happy ending. Like many of us who choose to live our lives on our own terms, this book celebrates choice and standing up for those choices. It does not shout or argue but serenely flows along making its point. When a Man Loves a Woman: A Love Divine shows us the quiet strength of love and is a perfectly sweet, soulful love story.
