Travel is the perfect companion for a reader like me. The books enrich me as I spend time with them and the return is manifold. Travel not only enriches me while I visit a place but later too when we reminisce and see the photographs and discuss our travel tales with friends and family.
I cannot find a better way to spend my time and money than on travel. As an army wife, I get a lot of opportunities to travel to beautiful and mesmerising places all over India. However, the one place I want to visit in India and is on the top of the list of places to visit are the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The Andaman Archipelago has 325 islands which cover an area of 6,408 km but the scenic and exotic beauty can only be experienced.
This glittering jewel in the Indian Ocean has been one of my most favourite places to visit and explore. I have heard so much about if from my friends and seen such beautiful pictures that I feel that I want to live there.
So I pack my bags with lots of sunscreen, a couple of glares and lots of bright, fun summer clothes as I head off for the perfect vacation. Undisturbed, off the grid and in the lap of Mother Nature with all material comforts as I explore her secrets.
The pristine beaches, heritage monuments and vibrant nature all make for a heady experience. As I explored the various options I was amazed to find that I had so many options for me to choose from! I think the ease with which I was able to plan this dream vacation makes it all the more enjoyable. I am able to cater to the needs of my child as well making it a break from the routine in the true sense.
I am getting spoilt for choice here, right from the first step of booking for my direct nonstop flight to Port Blair. I know my dream vacation has to be relaxed with no rushed visits just to log the venues off a list. I want to savour and enjoy the lush green tropical rain forests, feel a connection with the wildlife. Laze around on the sun-kissed, pristine beaches as I enjoy the sparkling, vivid blue waters.
My trip starts in the capital city of Port Blair and the infamous Cellular Jail. As I spend a day or two exploring the city, checking out the beaches and catch the perennial favourite – the Light & Sound Show. In my mind, I can visualise myself lazing on a lounger by the beach with a Long Island Ice tea and a good book after a day well spent discovering the Island for a couple of days.
Another must visit item on my list Scuba diving and snorkelling since these waters are considered the most perfect for viewing the aquatic life. Right from Havelock Island with the Coral Safari from Pheonix Bay to North Bay Island is a delight and must do experiences since these are considered the best coral viewing waters in the world. I would love to spend a few days exploring all water activities, including the submarine trip to see corals!
A few days to gradually strike of my list would be visits to Radhanagar Beach, Elephant beach and a visit to Kalapathar beach. A day devoted to a visit to Ross Island and Corbyn’s Cove beach and the famous “Sunset Point” Chidiya Tapu in Portblair to complete a perfect trip to this striking location.
What better than a trip around the islands and enjoying the local cuisine while I rejoice in the bounty of the Andamans would be a dream come true! Now if only my hubby could coordinate his vacation with these travel plans.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands have everything that would make it the best place for My Ideal vacation.
Hope to see the sea soon!
Do you have an ideal place to visit? Maybe the beach it is for you too?
