#Zootopia – Must Watch

The last movie Z and I watched was Star Wars and that one definitely does not come under movies for kids below 10. So when Zootopia was released I convinced Z that he needed to watch it and the fact that he had seen the music video a few weeks earlier with the gazelle / Shakira singing ‘Try Everything” with its trailer helped. Yes, I accept it, I love animation movies and wanted to watch this. Think Ice Age as my go to movie for everything!

Were we happy with the movie? Very!

Did we want to leave it mid way, as usual? Yes we did.

Did we see it till the end? Yes, we did.

Do we want to see it again? Yes, we do.

Go figure a kid!!

After a really long time we both loved a movie and were able to sit through it – almost. Z being the 6 year old he is wanted to leave the moment the leopards started growling. So he sat eyes screwed shut and ears tightly closed with his hands and peeking and nudging me to, ‘let’s go back home!’ But not for long.

Yes, he is one funny kid; he can watch zombies with his dad coz they are all made up but an animation movie gets him scared!! I hate leaving an unfinished movie, in fact I can assure you that the list is just 2 movies and I am not naming them.

I feel Disney has struck gold with this movie as they bring all animals, big and small together in this delightful adventure. The chases, the suspense and the light bulb moment when Judy discovers the truth are so well narrated, so smoothly filmed with the state of the art animation. I just loved the movie; I want to see it again; now only if I can convince Z.

Zootopia is the story of the spunky, intelligent rabbit Judy, who learns fast and adapts to adjust to the police and city life. Working doubly hard since no one believes in her talent she strives to solve the disappearance of an otter – a much loved family guy.  She manages to get help from Nick, a fox who is as street smart and sharp as they come. They make a delightful pair and bring a lot of laughs to the movie.

The story as is the trend with Disney has lessons on many levels. The never stop trying, the kindness, the importance of helping and supporting others all these shine through the story. Not just Judy but we see Nick with his insecurities and fears laid out brilliantly. Family love, support and friends; all find a place in this movie. Zootopia highlights that anyone can be cruel and unkind and that appearances are deceptive. All this and more is showcased beautifully.

And I have to mention the Sloths!! Totally awesome!! 😀

This is one movie that is big on message and even bigger on a good story line and quality animation. A must watch! Go get the tickets; the term break is upon us!!

Enjoy the song, we just loved it!

From the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. When Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how tough it is to enforce the law. Determined to prove herself, Judy jumps at the opportunity to solve a mysterious case. Unfortunately, that means working with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a wily fox who makes her job even harder.

oh! how I miss those days when my kid used to love animated movies 😛 I guess a teen is shaping up and while I could go anytime, anyday will wait up for my “kid” to go with me for such movies.

    Enjoy this phase, Indy.
Heard good reviews this side of the world too…

Okay this is the third positive review I am reading about this movie and I love animated movies! Hope it’s still around in ten days so I can take Gy after the exams 🙂 So glad that Z enjoyed it, Indy! I guess it takes time for kids to get used to things so don’t stress.
