Bittersweet Change

Life is all about growth and change. We are always happier when we accept to. I too accepted a big change for me and my blog finally as I moved Eloquent Articulation  from www.inderpreetkaur.blogspot.in to its new home www.inderpreetuppal.com
It does have a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

I felt sad leaving blogger but this is where my blog and I want to be so here we are. Embracing change.

So this is the blog here in its new address and we both are still getting settled. A few big and small hiccups along the way. It still needs a lot of TLC. (Tender loving care) and I am going to be super busy doing it, getting my head wrapped around the details. It is not easy to give up old habits and blogger was a breeze to use – I never had any issue with it.

Well, except the fact that my google+ comments did not come through. 🙁 Yes, it is some technical issue that has not been sorted by google. Now I wonder why ever in the world did I activate them. Let me know if you have a solution.

For the past couple of days all I saw was code swimming in front of my eyes and I thought I would never get this fixed but thanks to some good advice from Sid Balachandran and help from Aditi Mathur Kumar, my college friend Amit Gupta & his kind friends (thank you guys) & Rubina Ramesh I survived and lived to tell the tale. I had almost decide to give up moving but better sense prevailed. I have not been writing for the past few days and am now back on track. Feels good to write.

Have you shifted your blog or are you thinking about it? Do let me know. I got lots of things to share so you don’t waste your time and money like I did. Yep, lost some money, got some refund and then finally landed on this domain. But all that is for another post. 🙂 Still the blog is not polished enough but I am going to spit – shine it soon.

Welcome to my old blog and its new home. Take a look, read a few posts – all the old ones are here. Lots of new things to look forward to. My wonderful, patient authors – lots of reviews coming up. But first I need to edit and change my blog url all over the web! Gosh!! never realized how many places they were!!

A big thank you to you, my readers for your love. Do tell me what you think of the new blog? Is it same, same or different?

Hey! I too changed my blog platform , lost a lot of money and am still struggling with my ‘new’ blog. I’m now too tired to try changing it once more and completely understand where you’re coming from. Good luck with your new blog.

    Hello Red,
Welcome to the blog. If you are on WP then the domain change is the easiest thing to do and the WP guys/ Happiness Engineers help. From blogger it is a bit tough but quite doable. So do take a look and take the plunge. Self hosting is a big thing but this is easy. I am already feeling good about being here.
Thank you for your good wishes.

Thank you Rachna, all the advice really helped but I still should have read up a lot more. Blue Host definitely left a lot to be desired. 😀 But all is well now.

Great the blog looks good & this Welcome post makes it feel homely too 🙂
Im already having my tummy churn thinking of moving my 2blogs from blogger to any other Blogging platform. WordPress will be first option, though. Looking forward to the next post about moving Blog from one platform to another. Till then I better sit tight with the currect one.

Thank you Nav, It is a bit difficult to move but WordPress is really cool. Since you are already on WP it will be effortless. Will post the moving post soon. Start checking out the domain name you wish for in the meanwhile.

Your new site looks great! It appears to be on WordPress.com with a custom domain name, yes? That’s easier than self-hosted because you don’t have to worry about all the behind the scenes technical stuff. It does have limitations and there is only the one commenting system. People can choose to use WordPress (default), Facebook, Google+ or Twitter accounts to comment, though.

Thank you so much Debbie. You are right, it is on WordPress with a domain name. I had a tough time with self hosting so its on hold for the time being. The shift from blogger was quite a bit I think 🙂

      1. Vidya Sury

Debbie and Inderpreet – the Google Plus comments plugin has not been updated for 3 years. I had it and it just stopped working last week. So at the risk of losing loads of comments, I disabled and deleted it 🙁 Better now than later.

      2. Debbie D.

I know, it’s a steep learning curve. I took the plunge in 2013. If you decide to go that route in future, don’t hesitate to ask for help. 🙂 WordPress is very different from Blogger but it looks more professional, IMO.

Debbie, Vidya the total lack of support for google+ comments was a major reason for the shift. I tried my best to save them and they are still there on the old blog. Google is so proactive in urging us to activate the g+ comments but no solution for moving them. WordPress has been extremely supportive and I am glad I shifted. Good you got rid of G+ Vidya, Best in the long run.
I will definitely be asking for lots of advice from you in future. Thanks a ton for all the support. <3

Congratulations. I recently did the domain change for my matriwords blog. But since I did it on wordpress only, it was actually very simple. Just had to pay them 🙂 Your blog’s new home does look quite organised. And I am sure your spit-shining session will make it even more so. Enjoy the settling in process!

Thank you so much Beloo, I tried to keep it simple. I too have bought the domain name since I could not find good hosting. It was a lot easier that I thought. Lets see how things go in future.

Congratulations and welcome to the world of wordpress. It is so easy to stay connected here but yes it must be a great deal of work moving your blog to self-hosted. I wish one day I too can gather my energies for doing the same. For now I am scared.

Thank you The Bespectacled Mother Yes, I agree it is much easier and friendly but I am still learning. You could just go in for a domain name and link it to your blog. Do check it out. I found WordPress very helpful.

  18. Shailaja V

Congrats Inderpreet! So is this self-hosted then? Or just a domain re-direct? I am guessing the first because I see WordPress commenting enabled.

Welcome to the new space and hope you find yourself at home 🙂
