J for Jaffery & Joshi #AtoZChallenge

Today’s alphabet is “J” also took a lot of searching before could finally zero in on the authors. When I had found one and was floundering to find the author that was also very popular with the masses, I found Madhur who is not just a writer but a ‘jane of many talents”! She had been at the back of my mind a must feature author for J.
The other author is Arun Joshi; an award winning author with literary awards and achievements to his credit. Take a lok and decide for yourself and like always if you have a favorite Indian Author with the alphabet J, just let me know in the comments.

Madhur Jaffrey is an actress, active in radio, theater, television and film as well as a food writer, authoring numerous cookbooks and television chef and entrepreneur who, alongside acclaimed performances in such films as Shakespeare Wallah, Six Degrees of Separation and Heat and Dust, introduced the Western world to the many Cuisines of India.
Now regarded by many as the world authority on Indian food, Madhur Jaffrey is an award-winning actress and bestselling cookery author. Her first book, An Invitation to Indian Cookery, was published in 1973 and her series for BBC television Madhur Jaffrey’s Indian Cookery made her a household name. She has appeared in over 20 films, including Merchant Ivory’s Heat and Dust, and written over 15 cookery books, including Madhur Jaffrey’s Ultimate Curry Bible (2003), published by Ebury Press.
Arun Joshi (1939–1993) is known for his novels The Strange Case of Billy Biswas and The Apprentice. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel The Last Labyrinth in 1982. Arun Joshi is a novelist who, more strongly than most, has brought to his work that detachment from the everyday, while still acknowledging its existence, which is perhaps India’s particular gift to the literature of the world. The rising up into the transcendental is a trait that has increasingly marked out his novels.
