Delicate & Debonair : A SCANDALOUS PROPOSITION by M M George. Book Review

BOOK REVIEW

Mira is a small town girl and her character has all the traits of a typical middle class girl, the clothes, the bangles, the bindi’s but she wants to soar! Her aspirations make her a super lady with strength to put in the hard work for achieving her dreams. She has her dreams but her feet are firmly planted on the ground, with strong principles and great work ethic, impeccable grooming she is the ideal girl.
Ranbir Dewan made me think of our very own Ranbir Kapoor ala Bollywood! So clearly has the author written him that I could see him as I read the book. He is a handsome hunk with a touch of the traditional in him, caring and loving but so arrogant!
The story is simple enough but what keeps the interest going is the way the characters unfold and how they interact with each other.
The confrontations between Mira and Ranbir are well written and spice up the pages as do their close encounters. The author has a very straight forward approach about the sexual tension and chemistry and it is one of the winning aspects of the story.
The Dadi and all the other characters are so well etched and support the story beautifully. The language is simple, error free and a breeze to read. All the bases are covered and no lose ends or shabby surprises. The story keeps you glued and makes for a perfect read for some real good pass time.
My only gripe is that the end comes so soon but what a twist it brings. I understand that A SCANDALOUS PROPOSITION is a novella hence the short length but anything longer written by M M George will be welcomed by me.

 ABOUT M. M. GEORGE

MM George is the pen name of Mimmy Jain. Mimmy lives in London and edits stuffy academic books and journals when she is not dreaming up frothy romances.

Mimmy has been writing as far back as she can remember. She won her first national award for writing in the International Year of the Child, at the tender age of 14.

She had her first romantic story published around the same time in a national magazine. For many years, she wrote a humour column, which was published under various names in India Week, The Financial Express and National Review.

Mimmy Jain lives in London with her husband. For the moment. Never too hot on planning, she lives in the now, here, this. Fate, or God as most of us know it, has plans and they usually win over her most carefully conceived travel routes in life, so she decided early on to go with the flow.
Mimmy was a journalist in New Delhi and has worked with mainstream publications such as The Economic Times, The Financial Express, Mint, Down To Earth and The Times of India. Editing has always been her first love and, in 2003, when she’d got high enough up on the ladder to be pushing paper more than actually editing, she quit full-time journalism to set up her own editorial consultancy, Age of Aquarius. Since her move to London in 2010, in pursuit of a PhD for her husband, Saachi, she has been editing articles for academic journals published by Taylor & Francis.
Mimmy turned novelist recently. Well, she was always writing, as this blog proves. But now she’s got a new avatar, M M George. M M George’s first e-romance, A Scandalous Proposition, was published recently by Indireads.com, a hot new website for South Asian romance. And her second romance is half-way to finding its happy ending. More on that later!

PS : I bought this book and reviewed it as I liked the title of the book of my own free will. I do that sometimes 😉
